Dr. Mike Knight

WWF Transboundary Leader for KAZA

As the WWF KAZA Transboundary Leader, a trained wildlife ecologist with over 36 years of extensive experience in the African conservation environment, Mike is responsible for ensuring the collective inputs and efforts of the WWF Namibia/Zambia/Zimbabwe Country Offices are guided and coordinated in an efficient and synergetic manner according to the WWF KAZA Strategic Plan, and in line with the objectives of the KAZA Secretariat and the five countries of Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia & Zimbabwe.  He manages several critical donor-funded projects, including DreamFund, the Swiss Development Corporation support, and individual donor funded projects with WWF Netherlands, WWF Switzerland, WWF-US and WWF Germany, respectively.

Before joining WWF, Mikes spent more than 30 years working with SANParks, culminating in the position of Act Exec Director for Conservation Services and General Manager in the Park Planning & Development.  Mike currently serves as the Chair of the IUCN African Rhino Specialist Group, a position he’s held since 2011.
