Livia Wittiger

Project Manager, Integrated Wildlife Protection Project

Livia began her career as a conservationist at the foot of Mount Cameroon in a small grassroots non-governmental organization working to protect great apes and their habitat.  She continued her work in Cameroon, working for a small WCS project collecting data on the ecology of the des Cross River Gorilla. Livia ventured further into scientific research, spending several years studying wild chimpanzees in the Tai forest in Côte d'Ivoire.  Witnessing firsthand the immense habitat loss and illegal hunting in West Africa, she took the decision to continue working for the protection of the last wild places and animal populations as part of WWF Germany’s support forest and species conservation projects in the Congo Basin.

In 2021 Livia joined the WWF Namibia’s team as project manager for a KfW funded project countering wildlife crime, where she works closely with the Ministry of Environment Forestry and Tourism.
