Gordon Homer
WWF in KAZA - Wildlife Programme Director
Gordon was born in Johannesburg, where he attended primary school before spending four years at a high school in the Midlands of KwaZulu-Natal. He later earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree and began his career in the corporate world as a marketing and business development manager. However, he soon realized this was not his true calling and transitioned to becoming a game ranger in the northern part of Kruger National Park. It was during this time that his passion for wildlife grew exponentially, inspiring him to pursue further studies.
Gordon went on to complete a master’s degree in Community Development and a second master's in Conservation Management. His diverse work experience spans South Africa, India, Mauritius, Cambodia, and Australia, where he contributed to various conservation and community development initiatives.
For the past six years, Gordon has been working on conservation and development projects in the Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area (KAZA TFCA). He and his family recently relocated to Namibia, where he now serves as the Wildlife Program Director for WWF in KAZA. Alongside his love for his wife Anna and their two sons, Callum and Finn, Gordon is deeply committed to environmental protection, restoration, and the empowerment of communities living near wildlife areas, which are the driving forces behind his work and passion.
